- Notification issued 1/26/15 at 3:15 PM. The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Warning for The Bronx and Northern Queens from 3AM - 7AM tomorrow, 1/27. The affected area includes the New York coasts of the western Long Island Sound. Tidal departures are expected to be 2-3 feet above normal tide, with potential for up to 4 feet. Waves of 3-5 feet and high storm tides may cause beach erosion along the north facing shorelines open to the Long Island Sound. A few exposed waterfront structures may be damaged, and the potential for flooding of vulnerable shore roads exists. The affected area includes the south shore bays of western Long Island. Tidal departures are expected to be 2-3 feet above normal tide. Waves of 6-9 feet and high storm tides may cause beach erosion and washovers along ocean facing barrier beaches. A few exposed waterfront structures may be damaged, and the potential for flooding of vulnerable shore roads exists.
