  • Monday Snow and freezing rain before 3pm, then snow and sleet likely. Temperature falling to around 21 by 5pm. Wind chill values between 5 and 15. Breezy, with a north wind 17 to 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
  • Monday Night A slight chance of snow and sleet before 10pm. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 4. Blustery, with a north wind 19 to 24 mph decreasing to 11 to 16 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

 

 

Additionally:

PA OPS says snow is expected to start around 2100 on Sun with 3 to 5 inches of accumulation by 0600 Mon morning.  The temperature will rise a bit and precipitation will change to snow/sleet/freezing rain with 1 to 2 inches additional accumulation with storm ending by 2000 to 2100 Mon.

Terminal Parking


As of 01/27/2015 at 2330 there will no longer be free parking at the terminals.

AM shift will have to park at the employee lot or pay for parking.

Those already parked at the terminal will not be charged when they leave.

Operations Udate

-Roads are clear and mass transit is operating on a weekend schedule.
-Workforce is required to be here for 1500 and later operations.
-All AM personnel are authorized overtime.  OT will be for limited hours (4 hours) with TSM discretion as needed.

RDO OT Authorized

 Any TSO on RDO today who is able and willing to come to work will have RDO OT authorized until operations are normalized and Management/Leadership relieves those TSO's.

Air Train Buses Running

Please be advised that as of 1210 buses are running from Howard Beach and Jamaica Air Train stations to Federal Circle. Additionally buses are running through the terminal loop from Federal Circle.

Correction to Administrative Leave


It has been determined that as a designated emergency employee you will only receive Administrative Leave (up until 1500) for today 01/27/2015 if you report to work for the remainder of your shift. However if you do not report for your shift the Administrative Leave will not be given and you will be charged with a full shift of your leave time.

Subway and Bus service to resume at 09:00 AM

Subway and Bus service to resume at 09:00 AM
Per NYC OEM NYC Subway and Bus service will resume at 09:00 with improvements starting at 12:00 PM. All PM Officers must report to work.

Traffic And Transit Alert


The travel ban for all NYC roads has been lifted as of 7:30 AM. All residents are allowed to travel on NYC roadways. In addition, Staten Island Ferry service has resumed as of 7:30 AM. Exercise caution when driving and allow for additional travel time.

As the city returns to normal operations all PM personnel are expected to report for thei usual shift.

Checkpoint and baggage operations will resume today by 1500.

Admin Leave

Admin Leave will be used for all employees who called out prior to 1500 1/27/2015. After this time all employees must come to work or use Annual.

Mass Transit Alert


Due to impending winter weather, many mass transit suspensions are in effect:

 

The Staten Island Ferry will suspend operations beginning at 11:30PM tonight, 1/26.

 

PATH service and the Port Authority Bus Terminal will suspend service as of 11:00PM tonight, 1/26.

 

All Port Authority Bridges and Tunnels will close at 11PM tonight, 1/26, until further notice.

 

Amtrak has suspended Northeast Regional and Acela Express service between NY and Boston for tomorrow, 1/27. In addition, Amtrak has suspended Empire Service, Amtrak Downeaster, Vermonter, and Springfield line service, as well as Lake Shore Limited between NY and Albany and Albany and Boston only for tomorrow, 1/27. Acela Express and Northeast Regional (NY-Washington) and Keystone Service (NY-Harrisburg, PA) will operate at reduced frequencies.

 

Limit unnecessary travel.

All Port Authority Bridges and Tunnels will close at 11PM and will remain closed until further notice.

NYS DOT - TRACTOR TRAILER BAN IN EFFECT AT 1600 HRS FOR NYS THRUWAY (I-87), NEW ENGLAND THRUWAY (I-95), CROSS WESTCHESTER EXPY (I-287) UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

 

MARINE PKWY BRIDGE - MTA ADVISES SCHEDULED CLOSURE TOMORROW NIGHT AT 23:59 HRS FOR THREE HOURS UNTIL 03:00 HRS WEDNESDAY.

 

- Notification issued 1/26/15 at 3:15 PM. The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Warning for The Bronx and Northern Queens from 3AM - 7AM tomorrow, 1/27. The affected area includes the New York coasts of the western Long Island Sound. Tidal departures are expected to be 2-3 feet above normal tide, with potential for up to 4 feet. Waves of 3-5 feet and high storm tides may cause beach erosion along the north facing shorelines open to the Long Island Sound. A few exposed waterfront structures may be damaged, and the potential for flooding of vulnerable shore roads exists. Coastal residents in the warned area should be alert for rising water and take appropriate action to protect life and property. For more information, visit www.weather.gov/nyc.

Citywide Traffic Ban Due to Winter Storm

ALL NON-EMERGENCY VEHICLES ARE BANNED FROM OPERATING ON NYC ROADWAYS AS OF 11 PM TONIGHT UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. ALTERNATE SIDE PARKING RULES WILL BE SUSPENDED UNTIL WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 28, 2015.

AS PER NYS GOVERNOR'S OFFICE:

 
ALL NYS OWNED AND OPERATED ROADWAYS ARE SCHEDULED FOR CLOSURE AT 2200 HRS TONIGHT. ALL LIRR & METRO NORTH TRAINS WILL SUSPEND OPERATION AT 2300 HRS TONIGHT. NYC MTA SUBWAYS & BUSES WILL HAVE LIMITED SERVICE AFTER 1900 HRS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.                      

 

Good Afternoon Team,

 Based on the meetings held relative to our inclement weather, just want to share the following information:
 

  • AM Parking - There was no authorization to park at the terminals since there was no inclement weather at that time. Terminal parking commenced at noon.
  • Moving forward PM (noon 1/26) and scheduled Officers (1/27) can park at their respective terminals, in accordance to the agreement with Port Authority, with approved vehicle license data on file with PA. Work with your terminal managers.
  • We will have an Emergency Team that will be supporting our Operation, starting tonight until late tomorrow morning.
  • Please continue to check status/updates via the blog and AWS messages
  • Tuesday Morning operations (1/27) will be reduced, liberal leave is encouraged, please work with your respective terminal supervisor/managers for leave authorizations. At this time Admin Leave has not been authorized. Please continue to use proper protocol for leave procedures
